The Youth Forum Application

Please review the following information about the Youth Forum 2023. If you wish to proceed with registering your interest in attendance, instructions are included at the bottom of this page. 

 APPLICATION PROCESS

The Youth Forum will be a popular event and places are limited. To attend, you will need to apply through the competitive selection process.

To attend the Youth Forum, you must be between the ages of 18 and 35 (or be a successful applicant from 2020) and have a demonstrated interest in the heritage field. You can be of any professional or educational background – we encourage people from a wide range of disciplines to apply. Note that if accepted, you will need to register formally and pay the associated registration fee. This registration fee is separate from the main General Assembly registration. The fee will cover accommodation on Cockatoo Island / Wareamah and all meals during the Youth Forum.

 APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

You will need to complete a short application form to be considered for the Youth Forum.  Please have the following prepared:

  1. Short responses (250 words max. per question) to the following questions:
    • Why do you want to attend the Youth Forum 2023?
    • What are you seeking to get from Youth Forum 2023?
    • How can you contribute to Youth Forum 2023?
  2.  A one page CV

You will also be asked to rank in order of preference your preferred Youth Forum themes; Stain, Grain, and Re-Frame. Please look through the theme descriptions on the Youth Forum Program page.

We will be selecting a diverse range of delegates, aiming to include balanced gender and regional representation.  Please note that preference will also be given to delegates attending the General Assembly as well.

LANGUAGE

The working language of the Youth Forum is English. A good knowledge of English is essential, for the benefit of the individual participants and effective communication during the Youth Forum.

KEY DATES

There will be three applications rounds for the Youth Forum. To have the best chance of attending the Youth Forum, we strongly suggest delegates apply during the first Expression of Interest phase. Unsuccessful applications in the initial rounds will automatically be reconsidered in the later rounds.

ACCEPTED APPLICATIONS/REGISTRATION

Accepted applicants for the Youth Forums will be contacted via email, with an acceptance letter on the acceptance notification dates above.

Confirmation of acceptance into the Youth Forum, will be via the Youth Forum Registration form.

Accepted applicants will receive the registration link via their official acceptance letter for the Youth Forum.
