GA2023 promises to be a fabulous event!

This will be the biggest gathering of international heritage practitioners, experts and professionals ever in Australia, and will be a great networking event with national and international colleagues.  After the restrictions of the long pandemic, it will be a fantastic opportunity to see people again, and meet new colleagues.

The Scientific Symposium will present a truly impressive range of papers from international experts and emerging professionals.  The theme ‘Heritage Changes’ will explore the tumultuous changes in the first years of the 2020s, across conference sessions and public lectures.

Keynote speakers are Dr June Oscar AO, Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner, and HRH Princess Dana Firas, President of ICOMOS Jordan, President of the Petra National Trust and a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador.

Other internationally recognised speakers presenting at GA2023 include Prof. Lynn Meskell speaking on the changing dynamics of World Heritage, Prof. Cornelius Holtorf on heritage futures, Dr Alice Gorman on aerospace heritage, and Prof. Jo McDonald on rock art research.

The activities and events will be spectacular and include an opening ceremony with opera highlights in the World Heritage icon, the Sydney Opera House, a day visit to the World Heritage listed Greater Blue Mountains with its rich Aboriginal heritage, a party in the 1930s Luna Park amusement park on the shores of Sydney Harbour, and fireworks in Darling Harbour as part of the gala dinner (the dinner is an additional cost to registration).

Don’t miss this globally significant heritage event!
